Great news for all those who enjoyed the 2023 animated film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Paramount confirmed today that, thanks to the positive results obtained at the box office, the franchise will continue with an eagerly awaited sequel scheduled for October 9, 2026. The animated adventure represented an attempt by the studio to relaunch the legendary Ninja Turtles in a teen version, bringing them closer to the children and teenagers audience (but with a nod to adult fans) and taking a step back from the darker versions from previous live-action films. In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, in fact, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo are four teenage brothers who have spent their entire lives in an underground lair, protected by their "father" Splinter.

The latter has always forbidden them to go into the human world, considering them monstrous and dangerous. Thirsty for novelty and discovery, the brothers disobey and on the surface, they find a new ally: the aspiring journalist April O'Neil. Together, they must use all their martial arts skills to fight against an army of mutants and prove their worth as heroes. Jeff Rowe, who previously directed the acclaimed The Mitchells Against the Machines, will return to direct the sequel. The details of the plot are still top secret, but a clue in the first chapter foreshadows the arrival of Shredder, the Turtles' historical antagonist.

The first film was written by Seth Rogen and Brendan O'Brian, produced in collaboration between Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Animation. Producers include Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver. Overall, it grossed $180 million worldwide, against a budget of approximately $70 million. While waiting to find Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo at the cinema, fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles both young and old will be able to enjoy the animated series inspired by the film Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, arriving on Paramount+ this summer.
