Director Denis Villeneuve has responded to recent comparisons between his film Dune: Part Two and Christopher Nolan's Star Wars classic The Empire Strikes Back. The comparison, initially reported by Raiders of the Lost Podcast, raised questions about Dune: Part Two's expectations and influences. Villeneuve, known for his careful approach to direction and storytelling, humbly accepted the parallel between the two films. He highlighted the pop culture circle, in which the work of Frank Herbert, author of Dune, influenced George Lucas in the creation of Star Wars and also recognized that there are clear parallels between the two films, both conceived as central chapters of trilogies and capable of expanding the narrative world, developing the characters and surprising with their visual mastery.

It's a comparison I would never have dared to make myself. I think that's a great compliment because The Empire Strikes Back is by far my favorite Star Wars movie. So, coming from Chris [Nolan], that's an incredible compliment.

Without revealing too many spoilers, Villeneuve pointed out that Dune: Part Two continues the story where the previous film left off, with Paul Atreides and Lady Jessica joining Fremen society following the destruction of House Atreides. The director praised the film's exceptional cast, which includes names like Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgård, and Christopher Walken, among many other stars. The Dune: Part Two film has already received an enthusiastic reception from critics, with many praising its extraordinary vision. Denis Villeneuve encouraged audiences to enjoy the cinematic experience on the big screen.
